Toontastic is a fun tool for students to create stories and cartoons. Although this app was created primarily for younger students, it could also be used as an alternative to creating video assessments in class. If some of your students are reluctant (or do not have permission) from their parents to appear in videos, have them create a summary, explain a plot, discuss a topic, or teach their peers through animation.
As the description on iTunes explains, you simply choose characters, press record, put your characters in motion, and tell your story. Toontastic records your voice and all cartoons can be stored on ToonTube.
Make it Mobile: I love this tool as an option for assessing students digitally. Allow students to choose how they want to be assessed digitally but give them some options and include Toontastic as one of those options.
