Bookshare for Reading

BookshareBookshare is an accessible library for individuals with print disabilities.  Users will need to sign up for a Bookshare account and then they can select from over 400,000 titles that they can read independently.  Bookshare is a wonderful tool to open the literary world to students who otherwise wouldn’t have access without support.  Bookshare is accessible on the web or through the Android application Go Read.  Bookshare is a great tool to help students with disabilities develop a love of reading.

Google Handwriting for note taking

GoogleHandwritingGoogle Handwriting is an app that you can add to your Android device so that instead of using the built in keyboard, users can write with a stylus or their finger.  Google Handwriting input cuts down on thumb typing and provides a more traditional note taking experience.  Google Handwriting will work with many of the apps that are styled after notebooks in appearance.  Google Handwriting will also allow users to switch between the native keyboard and handwriting with the tap of a button.  This is a great way for young students to practice their writing or work out math problems in a digital notebook.

Dictionary Linguee was designed to be a fast, two-way translation dictionary that is accurate.  It was designed by over 400 lexicographers so it can handle even the most complicated queries.  Dictionary Linguee is even available offline.  This is a great tool to support English language learners and students in world languages classes.

Radon for Sharing

RadonRadon is an Android app that makes it really easy to share information.  The app allows you to “send” information to everyone around you as soon as they open the app.  Teachers can navigate to a Web site that they want to share with students and send it via an ultrasound (like a Google tone).  Students can open the app on their device and they will get the link.  This app is a really easy and efficient way for teachers and students to share information with each other.
