Monday Success: Haiku Deck Review

May 11, 2015 by

This week’s Monday Success story comes from my favorite rapper, MAK.  We first met Mary Ann when she wrote in about taking an innovative approach to teaching math rules by performing a rap and then having her students demonstrate mastery by performing their own rap.  Mary Ann is at it again, innovating in the classroom.  Students were asked to create a presentation using Haiku Deck summarizing what they learned in math throughout the school year.  The students were given an introduction to Haiku Deck and then time to create with their team.  Students had a few guidelines to follow such as a set number of slides and specific content type for a couple of them but other than that, they were allowed to show what they learned, creatively.  Mary Ann told us this about the experience that she and her students had with Haiku Deck.

“What we learned:  I think the students realized just how much they learned this year.  They also learned another simple presentation tool that they can continue to use in junior high school and beyond.  They used teamwork, cooperation, collaboration, and presentation skills.”

Mary Ann was also kind enough to share a couple of Haiku Decks that her students created.
