Monday Success: Formative for Assessment

May 9, 2016 by

formativeThe Monday Success story this week comes from Mr. Bob Mayne in Rhode Island.  I have had the pleasure of learning from Bob through the last couple of years and he does some great things in class.

Bob uses Formative as an assessment tool to practice test his students who are preparing for the AP Statistics exam.  Bob says that he uses it to give the students multiple choice questions and then he is able to see quickly where his students are struggling.  Formative is a great tool for use with iPads because the teacher can see what all of the students are doing when responding to questions and the students can even write or draw responses to questions.  Bob also mentioned that Formative is a great tool for quick assessments like bell ringer activities or exit tickets.  Formative is a great tool for informing instruction, practice testing, and student preparation.

Thanks, Bob.  Please feel free to share your ideas, resources, and tools as well!
