Dragon Dictation is a speech-to-text app that has a number of uses in education. The super easy interface makes it suitable for any user. Simply open the app, press the record button, and start talking and the app will convert your voice to text. Text can be reviewed and edited before it is sent to another location. The text can be sent straight to Twitter or Facebook or used to make notes to yourself.

Possible Classroom Uses:

  • Allow students to leave themselves voice notes instead of copying down written work.  This is especially helpful for students with disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc.) or English Language Learners.
  • Practice language skills for English Language Learners and foreign language students.
  • Record lecture or lesson notes
  • Record homework
  • Participate in a classroom Tweetchat
  • General reminders for students who need additional memory help
